With the tour series named Toward the South-West, we wishes to bring you impressive images of the generous, motherly Mekong Delta accompanied by its typical culture. Fertile alluvial from the rivers have been nurturing numerous fruitful farms year after year. The two main rivers of the delta named Tiền Giang and Hậu Giang (which mean Front River and Back River) have been supplying water for endless fresh fields spreading up to the skyline. The delta’s culture was born from and has been attached to rivers and farms, showing clearly in the busy atmosphere of the Cái Răng Floating Market or in many handicraft villages on the riversides. With their truthful, hospitable, and generous personalities, people in the South-West have embedded their own beautiful images in the hearts of tourists from every corner of the world.
Tour Details
DAY 1: HỒ CHÍ MINH CITY – SA ĐÉC TOWN – CHÂU ĐỐC TOWN: GO TO SA ĐÉC TO VISIT THE LAND OF “THE LOVER”
To start the tour, a coach and tour guide will come to pick you up at meeting places and leave Hồ Chí Minh City for Sa Đéc Town. When arriving at the town, you will visit the Kiến An Cung Temple. This one-hundred-year-old temple will impress you with its Chinese architecture.
Next, you will visit the old house of Huỳnh Thuỷ Lê to learn more about the love of the famous French writer Marguerite Duras with Mr. Huỳnh Thuỷ Lê. This love entered Duras’s well-known novel entitled “The Lover”, which is adapted to a movie with the same title.
Your lunch will be served at the old house of Huỳnh Thuỷ Lê.
On the way to Cao Lãnh City, you will pass Lai Vung Town, which is extremely famous for “nem”. “Nem” is a specialty of Vietnamese food that consists of harsh pork wrapped in banana leaf. You will also stop for a short tour in Định Yên Village, which is famous for its handicraft of mat. Mats made in this village are used all over the Mekong Delta.
Passing the Hậu River at Vàm Cống on a ferry, you will continue your trip to Châu Đốc Town, in which you will visit the Temple of the Land Lady, the Tây An Temple, the Shrine of Thoại Ngọc Hầu.
You will spend your night in Châu Đốc Town.
DAY 2:
The tour is continued with visits at the Châu Đốc Floating Market, the village of Cham people, the village of net-making, and the Vĩnh Tế Canal. Châu Đốc and Tân Châu are places where most Cham people in the South-West chose to settle down.
The next destination is Trà Sư Forest, in which you will have lunch and go for sight-seeing. The beauty of the cajuput forest and lovely bird songs will give you great relaxation. You will also enjoy “đờn ca tài tử”, a traditional folk music born and famous in South-West Vietnam in the early twentieth century.
You will have lunch in Trà Sư Forest and leave for Cần Thơ City – the capital of South-West Vietnam (which is called the Western Capital for short)
You will have dinner on a tourism boat and spend your night in Cần Thơ City.
DAY 3: CẦN THƠ CITY – HỒ CHÍ MINH CITY: FAREWELL TO THE WESTERN CAPITAL
Cái Răng Floating Market is the first destination in Cần Thơ, because floating markets are most typical for the river culture of people living in the Mekong Delta.
Tour guide will also introduce you to the farming life by taking you to the Ba Cống Fruit Farm, which is famous for various typical fruits of the South-West.
Walking around the old village of Long Tuyền, tour guide will introduce you the beauty of ancient architecture in Cần Thơ that has been reserved for hundreds of years such as the old house of Bình Thuỷ, the Bình Thuỷ Communal House, and Nam Nhã Temple. Having entered many works of literature, painting, cinema and music, the names of those places have been getting out of Cần Thơ City and spread all over the country.
After lunch, you will start the trip back to Hồ Chí Minh City.
