Located in the heart of Can Tho city, overlooking the windy Ninh Kieu Quay, Ong Pagoda - also known Quang Trieu Hoi Quan - is the rare ancient pagoda in Can Tho city kept the original status from the beginning day of the pagoda. The 100-year-old Chinese cultural pagoda was recognized as a national cultural and historical relic in 1993.

It was built in 1894 and completed in 1896. Over 100 years passed, Ong Pagoda in Can Tho is in perfect condition from appearance to inside. Ong Pagoda stands prominently in the middle of Hai Ba Trung Street with typical architecture and colors of the Chinese. The pagoda is colorful, joyful and close to everyone, as a symbol of peace, luck, prosperity.

In the war years, the pagoda was the residence of many poor people. In those years, the pagoda was welcoming and full of food for many people, regardless of ethnicity, religion or belief.

Ong Pagoda is often visited by Chinese, Vietnamese people. Tet is an important religious activity, which is the largest festival of the year at Ong Pagoda.
